With the influx of tourists and the taking of houses for daily rent, a problem has arisen in Barcelona, Spain's most visited city.
Tourist demand for homes increased rents overall, by 68% in the last 10 years, and the cost of buying a home increased by 38%.
All have gone to such a level, almost unaffordable.
Barcelona has announced that it will stop renting apartments to tourists until 2028.
The licenses of over 10,000 apartments currently approved as short-term rentals will be removed.
This decision aims to normalize prices, or at least curb the increase.
This will bring advantages for hotel structures as well.
