The airport in Milan will be named after Silvio Berlusconi

Malpensa, the largest airport in Milan, will be named after the late former prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi.

Matteo Salvini, Italy's deputy prime minister, announced the news on social media.

"Good news: Milan's Malpensa Airport will be named after Silvio Berlusconi," writes Salvini.

According to Salvini, officials from the Lombardy region, where the airport is located, made a request to rename it a year ago. Recently, the board of directors of the country's National Civil Aviation Authority approved it. However, it is still unclear when exactly Malpensa, which offers flights to 180 destinations in 77 countries, will be officially rebranded.
