Istanbul Airport suspends flights due to snowfall
Heavy snowfall in Turkey has prompted Istanbul Airport to suspend flights until further notice.
Turkish Airlines has notified all passengers to check the updates on its website for flights from Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen Airport which is also located in Istanbul.
Snowfall and icy storms were most concentrated in central and eastern regions of Turkey last week, but temperatures also plummeted in the west and northwest of the country starting at the weekend.
Istanbul had light snowfall on January 22, but a strong storm that started late on January 23, and left the high places of the Turkish metropolis with a layer of snow reaching a depth of 40 centimeters.
