Writer and journalist Vera Isaku passed away at the age of 66

After several years of fighting with a serious illness, the writer and journalist Vera Isaku, the first woman to work as a journalist in the opposition press at the beginning of pluralism, has passed away.

Also, Isaku has been the director of the Albanian Radio-Television and the director of the International Cultural Center. She has published a large number of articles in the local and foreign press and has been the author of a series of books in various genres such as novels, poetry and short stories.

In the last years of her life she devoted herself to painting and in 2015 organized an exhibition of 30 of her works. The funeral ceremony will take place the next day with the participation of the close family circle.
