Implementation of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement on documents at border points

The implementation of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement on documents began today. The Minister of the Interior in Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, confirmed that the documents for entry and exit at the border are not being issued.

"At the border crossing points in Merdar, Brnjak, Dheu i Bardhë and Mucibaba, the issuing of documents for entry/exit by the Serbian authorities has been stopped. Another success in establishing the rule of law and constitutionality in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the protection of the interests of our citizens against Serbia", he said in a post on Facebook.

Last Saturday, Kosovo and Serbia reached an agreement on the free movement of citizens. Now citizens of the two countries can travel freely using their documents.

Meanwhile, the license plate issue is still unresolved. The Government of Kosovo has argued that citizens will have two months to re-register their cars with RKS-Republic of Kosovo license plates. While Serbia has proposed that the Serbs in the north be equipped with KS license plates - which have a neutral status to the citizenship of Kosovo, but Kurti has rejected this proposal.
