The group of Afghan citizens who will be temporarily sheltered in Kosovo is expected to arrive on Saturday at around 19:00 at Pristina airport. VOA has learned that it is about a little over 100 people.

Authorities have not yet released any additional information on their whereabouts but have announced that they will house about 2,000 Afghans.

The Government of Kosovo has approved the request "for the provision of temporary and immediate protection to persons at risk of internal conflict in Afghanistan, who are in the process of applying for Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) - to the United States of America, including their families ”.

The United States has asked Kosovo and Albania to accept a number of Afghans who have worked with US forces, who fear retaliation by the Taliban, who took control of the country after the withdrawal of foreign troops.
