The US President-elect, Donald Trump, is expected to appoint Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, sources have informed the "New York Times".
Richard Grenell, former US emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, was also mentioned in the list for secretary.
Rubio was elected to the Senate in 2010 and is known for his tough voice on China, Iran, Venezuela and Cuba. He initially clashed with Republicans who are more skeptical of interference abroad, but Rubio has echoed Trump's call that Russia's war in Ukraine must end.
Although he has harshly criticized Russia in the past, Rubio is likely to agree with Trump's plans to pressure Ukraine into a settlement with Russia and stay out of NATO.
Rubio has been one of the most vocal senators in calling for the US to be tougher on China. He is also considered a great supporter of Israel's war in Gaza, calling Hamas "100 percent guilty".
Rubio was first elected to the Senate in 2010. In 2016, he ran against Trump in the Republican presidential race. At that time, Trump named him "little Marco".
