Kosovo declares a state of emergency for electricity
The Government of Kosovo has declared a state of emergency for electricity. The deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo approved the decision with 68 votes in favor, none against and no abstentions.
"The Government of Kosovo takes the decision to announce emergency measures in energy supply, pushed by the current world energy situation: the rapid increase in the price of energy imports, as well as the warning of the ban on the export of fossil materials from some European countries that may affect the further increase in the import price", the government announcement said.
The measures taken will remain in force for 60 days.
This decision will include support measures so that citizens can ensure heating during the winter, the ban on the use of electricity for the production of cryptocurrencies, the support of the Transmission and Market System Operator (KOSTT) to take the necessary actions in order to save of the security of the electrical energy system and measures to save electricity consumption by all institutions.
