Kosovo risks being left without electricity this winter, Minister of Economy: It is a state of emergency
Kosovo risks electricity shortages during the winter season, Kosovar media report.
In addition, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli has announced another increase in the price of electricity in the spring of next year and has asked citizens to save electricity.
"Import prices have increased fivefold. It is a state of emergency. In order for this crisis to affect Kosovo as little as possible, citizens need to save electricity, to use other sources of heat.
"Failure to save energy also means an increase in imports and there may be obstacles to regular empowerment, and there may be an increase in tariffs from April next year," said Rizvanolli.
However, citizens are concerned about warnings about rising electricity prices.
Kosovo and Albania have recently signed a framework agreement on cooperation in electricity markets. This is seen as positive in expanding security of electricity supply and increasing competition in the market.
