The Minister of Health of Kosovo, Arben Vitia has approved today the recommendation given by the Community for Immunization against COVID-19, to allow vaccination of children 12 years and older.

The immunization process will begin with children who suffer from chronic diseases and are consequently more exposed to the risk of coronavirus. It is reported that the vaccine that will be used for this age group is that of the American company "Pfizer".

"Considering that the Pfizer BioN / Tech vaccine has been approved by the FDA and EMA for vaccination of persons over 12 years of age, the completion of the plan includes: Vaccination of persons over 16 years of age with the Pfizer vaccine and vaccination of 12-15 year olds with priority and according to health indications ”- it is written in the announcement of the Ministry of Health in Prishtina.

The decision to vaccinate children and young people has been made in many western countries, and with the arrival of the delta variant, even the groups least at risk of COVID may become infected and suffer from symptoms.
