Tirana remembers the 78th anniversary of Liberation today

"Tirana is the only capital in Eastern Europe that was liberated by its own forces and those of allies, without a single Russian soldier setting foot on its territory. Today, as the Russian troops aim at other territories, I believe that for all those who have a question mark about the war, and for all those who use politics to divide on the importance of the war, they will have to think again! Therefore, my heart is full of pride for all our citizens, for all those who embody the values of war, for all those who, even in today's politics, as we first face the earthquake, then the pandemic, then inflation of Putin's war - as a treacherous war against the people of Ukraine, but also a treacherous war against the West and our Western mission - today, more than ever, we need to be together. When we are together we can do things that we cannot do alone. When we are together we can go through situations that we cannot go through alone. When we are together we can rise stronger, maybe even stronger than we were when we fell from the earthquake, from the pandemic, or from this treacherous war. Therefore, friends, today the mission is the same as on November 17, 1944, to be together, to be in solidarity, to be Westerners," said Veliaj in the speech of the occasion.

The President of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla said: "Every nation is freed by its own efforts, said the great Fan Noli, and the sons and daughters of Tirana and all of Albania fought neighborhood by neighborhood, street by street, barricade by barricade to liberate Tirana by marking and a culminating point towards the liberation of all of Albania. The people of Tirana and the people of Albania supported the anti-fascist war, showing once again the high values, the wisdom, that the Albanian people have, lining up with our great allies, lining up on the right side of history, where it was the fight for freedom and democracy."
