A piece of Italy in Tirana and the meaning of the newest work in front of the stadium
On the occasion of June 2, the Feast of the Italian Republic was inaugurated "Square Italy" which has been radically transformed and today is a place where life is full of adults and children and not an area full of cars. The sculpture of the artist Helidon Xhixha called "Big Bang" is also placed in Italy Square. Also present at the inauguration was the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who said that cities are created for people, and this is why cars in this square have been put down, while the upper part is totally available to citizens.
"From a rotundo and from a place where cars were parked, a square neglected for years, we transformed it, but we forgot to inaugurate it. If before it was just a place for cars, today it is a place for people. This square is animated with some cafes "alla italiana", where "Dolce vita" is very close to the Italian style. In the afternoon the kids are here on skates, or learning to ride a bike. We have returned to the people. It is a square that not only has the name of Italy, but is surrounded by Italy, starting from the work I have in front of Marco Casamonti, to the other Florentines of the works ", said Veliaj.
He made a comparison of the sculpture of the artist Helidon Xhixha with the relationship of Albania with Italy.
"Albania's relationship with Italy is strong as steel, with which you work, and shines like the sun, which is reflected in your work", concluded the mayor.
