A cricket match between the staff of the Municipality of Tirana and the British Embassy marked the start of "British Week" yesterday. In the 100th anniversary of relations between the United Kingdom and Albania, a series of activities in culture, art, music and sport will be organized, culminating with Rita Ora's concert on September 6.
Accompanied by the British ambassador in Tirana, Alastair King-Smith and the world boxing champion Florian Marku, the head of the Municipality of Tirana, Erion Veliaj declared that sport has the power to unite people.
"Back stage is being prepared for another Albanian-British success: Rita Ora. Meanwhile, we just finished a fantastic weekend with "Sunny Hill Festival", with Dukagjini and the Lipa family", added Veliaj.
The British Ambassador said that "British Week" will come with a series of different activities, which start in Tirana and then spread throughout Albania.
"It is a pleasure to be in the center of Tirana, in the center of Albania, in the "Skëndebej" square, to launch "British Week 2022" and this will be the cultural week where we will celebrate all aspects of culture between Britain and Albania", highlighted Ambassador Alastair King-Smith.
