Festive concert for the 65th anniversary of the Veterans Organization, Veliaj:

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Veterans Organization, a festive concert was organized yesterday in "Skënderbej" square, where the head of the Municipality of Tirana Erion Veliaj was also present. In his welcoming speech, Veliaj praised the sacrifices of those who put Albania on the right side of history, as well as the veterans' association, which still keeps alive the best values of the National Liberation War.

"It is the duty of the nephews and nieces to enter Europe; in that Europe, in which Prime Minister Rama made an extremely dignified presentation. "Our youth are not only iPhones and chicks who create applications, but we are also the nephews and nieces of veterans, martyrs, of those who at that difficult moment chose the right side of history", said Veliaj.

He added that thanks to this election, Albania is today closer to the EU. "But unfortunately not everyone made that choice, we have to tell the truth. Some made the wrong choice of story. But thanks to those who made the right choice of battle, we have the Albania we have today, an official candidate for membership in the European Union, as a dowry for the children and grandchildren, nephews and nieces, to take the country higher", declared the mayor.

The Mayor emphasized that what is happening today in Ukraine reminds us that the war is not a fairy tale. "A people who do not know where they came from, do not even know where they are going. Perhaps, for today's youth, the Second World War may seem distant because it happened 78 years ago. But, on February 24 of this year, another war started in Europe, Russia's aggression against Ukraine. A nation that forgets to fight, forgets to protect its dignity, forgets to protect its territory, forgets to protect its history, is always a hostage to other powers, who want to devour it, who want to change the borders, who want to change the order and peace we have in Europe", said Veliaj.

The Mayor declared that Tirana is the only capital in Europe that was freed from its own forces, thanks to the sacrifices of its citizens.
