From October 19 to October 21, with the special aim of supporting young composers, the ACA association organizes the Balkan Contemporary Youth Academy.
A series of concerts will be held with the creativity of composers Johannes Kretz, Dorian Çene, Annelies van Parys, Aulon Naçi, Jana Andreevska, Feim Ibrahimi, Thoma Gaqi, Kuno Kjærbye, Bela Bartok, Branka Popovic.
The string orchestra concert, which will be held on October 20, will be conducted by Mr. Olsi Qinami and will present works known to the Albanian public such as the second movement from the Symphony for Strings by Feim Ibrahim with soloist Xhovana Marku, "Batikroma" by Thoma Gaqi, the famous dances of the Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, as well as the Albanian premiere as " Appearance" by Kuno Kjærbye and "Stardust" by Branka Popovic for solo viola and string orchestra which will be performed by Prof. Arben Llozi.
At the end of the formative activities, a concert of young composers participating in BCYA will be held on October 21. The works of this concert have been proposed by the creators themselves, while the compositional and interpretive techniques will be consulted with the pedagogues during the development of formative activities.
In order to offer the best possible expertise, as well as to encourage the creation of networking between young artists from the region and beyond, we have invited the Italian ensemble "Alter Voci" which will serve as ensemble in residence and will perform in concerts on October 19 and 21. Balkan Contemporary Youth Academy takes place within the framework of "Tirana European Youth Capital 2022" (Tirana European Youth Capital 2022) and based on the objectives of this project, aims to stimulate young people to be more proactive about the issues that concern them, as well as more inclined to use existing opportunities in function of professional growth and artistic career.
This activity is organized by the National Youth Congress within the Tirana European Youth Capital 2022 program in cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana.
