What does it mean to be asexual?
While people are becoming more aware of the different spectrums of the LGBTQ community, there are many who don't fully understand what it means to be asexual.
Asexuality is considered to be the lack of sexual attraction to any person, of any gender. An asexual person shows little or no interest in sexual activities even with those they feel attracted to.
It is not a disorder
Many people assume it is a disorder because it is believed that our bodies are pre-wired to desire sex. It's not a hormonal imbalance or a mood swing. It is a sexual orientation.
It doesn't take the 'right person' to not be asexual
You can't tell an asexual person that they will stop being asexual the moment they find 'the one'. Asexual people just don't feel sexually attracted to people in general.
Asexual people may want a relationship
These people do not feel a sexual connection, but they certainly have a mental and emotional connection with people. And so they desire emotional and romantic relationships.
