With self-irony for the attacks he constantly receives, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, often targeted by the Kosovar network as Vucic's brother, has spoken at the UN about the Kosovo issue.
At the UN, Rama said in his speech:
All of us in the Western Balkans have sought for a decade to come together, meet, talk about challenges and plan our common future.
It is Albania's unshakable conviction that we must see the past with the eyes of the future and not see the future with the eyes of the past.
Today, the peoples of the Balkans have a moment of historical opportunity in the context of a broader historical danger in Europe, where Russian aggression against Ukraine should serve as a permanent alarm bell for all of us.
I would say that the Western Balkans is in a much better position today than it has ever been, but we need to work tirelessly and patiently among ourselves in the region and above all with our allies and partners to ensure that the return in the past to be, not only impossible, but simply unimaginable.
In this context, our sister Republic of Kosovo is an irreversible reality as a state among the 6 countries of the Western Balkans with a clear European perspective and an indisputable alliance towards the great democratic community of countries.
Any artificially drawn parallels between Kosovo and the occupied areas of Ukraine are intended to distract and confuse everyone possible in this building and the entire international public opinion, but they can never succeed in diluting the truth that is : Kosovo is already an inseparable part of the international reality, an aspiring member of the Euro-Atlantic community and should not be held hostage by anyone with false claims and justifications, starting from the group of 5 EU member states that have not yet recognize the country of Kosovo by right, in every international organization and forum.
