Tirana becomes part of the UN Panel for Sustainable Development of Cities
The Municipality of Tirana has become part of the UN Panel for Sustainable Development of Cities in New York, which is coordinated by the mayors of Paris and Rio de Janeiro and is led by the well-known American economist, Jeffrey Sachs. This panel aims to develop innovative mechanisms and policy reforms to ensure greater access of cities to sustainable financing.
In this initiative, which is a response to global challenges such as climate change and poverty, Tirana will engage in Task Force 2 for the creation of new funds and institutional support. The work of the Commission will take place as scheduled during international events such as UN Climate Week in New York and COP28 in Dubai.
This engagement represents a new opportunity for Tirana to contribute to global discussions on financing climate-resilient infrastructure. This is an important step for Tirana, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive and efficient approach to achieving the goals of sustainable development.
