The National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies is inaugurated

The National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies of the National Civil Protection Agency is inaugurated in Tirana. Built in a space made available by the Municipality of Tirana, with the help of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies will improve the coordination and communication of the structures of the Civil Protection System in cases of Civil Emergencies.

In his greeting speech, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that the space has been chosen in the heart of the city, which shows the attention paid to resolving emergencies. "The famous quarrel with the police and workers, the first one a year ago, took place here, not in a party office. "I want to go through that incident with humor, because now you saw that these were not party offices, but the civil emergency office", Veliaj recalled.

Thanking the Italian support for the establishment of this center, he praised the cooperation not only between state institutions, but also the cultural ties between the two peoples.

The President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, noted the very good relations of cooperation between the two countries. "Italy is also a country hit by earthquakes. Our co-operation experience is excellent. I think this investment will serve not only to save lives, but also to prevent disasters, such as what happened in Albania in 2019 and in Italy in some cases. "This is the beginning of a journey that we will make together, which will have some developments aimed at achieving European standards in the field of Civil Protection", he added.
