Trump picks former Fox anchor to lead Voice of America

US President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Kari Lake, a former news anchor and Republican who failed to win a Senate seat last month, to head the US government-funded media outlet Voice of America.

Trump said Lake would "ensure that America's free-spirited values are broadcast around the world fairly and accurately, as opposed to the lies spread by the fake news media."

Voice of America (VOA) is an international media company that operates in more than 40 languages online and includes radio and television.
