Muslim believers today celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the 2 most important holidays in the Muslim calendar. Thousands of believers gathered today on the boulevard 'Dëshmorët e Kombit' for the prayer of Kurban Bayram. The prayer started at 06:00. The message of the head of the KMSH, Bujar Spahi, went for more love and prosperity in Albanian families, and yet he did not spare the calls for peace in the countries of the world that are involved in wars such as Gaza and Palestine.
The holiday of Kurban Bayram is to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's devotion to Allah and his willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail. Believers believe that at the point of sacrifice, God replaced Ishmael, (the son of the prophet Ibrahim) with a ram, which was to be slaughtered in his place. This command from God was a proof of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness and commitment to obey his Lord's command without question. Therefore, Kurban Bayram means the Feast of Sacrifice.
