Who is Silvio Gonzato, the new EU ambassador in Tirana
Silvio Gonzato will be the new ambassador of the European Union in Tirana. The news was announced by the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell.
Gonzato previously served as EU Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations in New York. He also previously served as director for inter-institutional relations, policy coordination and public diplomacy at the EEAS and as Chair of the Secretariat of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament. He has spent most of his career (thirteen years) working in various Secretariats of the Committee, covering domestic and foreign policies. His responsibilities included advising the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs regarding the organization of the Committee's activities, contacts with other EU institutions, relations with the European External Action Service and contacts with diplomatic missions in Brussels.
He will be officially appointed on December 1, 2023.
