"Oil prices are expected to decrease during 2022", says Sejko: Supply shocks, transient

"Oil prices are expected to decrease during 2022", says Sejko: Supply

Good news came this Wednesday for all consumers from the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, who assured that the prices of oil and other products are expected to decrease during 2022, thus reducing the pressure on production costs and consumer prices.

Based on an international expert analysis, Governor Sejko stated that the supply shock remains transient while stressing that inflation will return to the 3% target during 2022.

However, there is a risk that prices will rise beyond forecasts, and in this case the Bank of Albania will be forced to change its monetary policy, according to the Governor.

" Prices of oil and other materials are expected to decrease during 2022, thus reducing the pressure on production costs and consumer prices. Supply shocks remain transient, as inflation returns to the Bank's 3% target over the next year .

The slow recovery of the world economy and the further rise in prices pose an upstream risk to inflation. In the materialization of this risk scenario, the Bank will be forced to change its monetary policy ", underlined Sejko.
