Agrotourism demands legal changes: It is surviving thanks to sacrifices
On World Agrotourism Day, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro had a meeting with some representatives of the Albanian Agrotourism Association who have recently sent a letter listing some legal changes they request. Flori Uka, president of the Agrotourism Association that was established for the first time in 2022, spoke about the resources that our country offers for the development of this sector and on the other hand the importance of setting standards between entrepreneurs and a good relationship with the state.
"I have just returned from a long trip I made to some agritourism, from north to south and I saw that Albania lacks only the desert and the tropics. We have resources where you can study the world only by staying in Albania in terms of flora, fauna and many other factors. It is to be appreciated that despite all the sacrifices made by the agritourism business, people work independently. The desire is very great, but we must build a standard as an association from both sides, as from us who represent agritourism, but also to have a good relationship with the state to evaluate us according to the work we do ", said Uka.
Kumbaro said that the changes will be made taking into account their requirements, as it is ecotourism, agritourism and similar sectors that are expected to provide tourism for most of the year.
"I have received a letter from you requesting changes to the existing DCM. Certainly the existing DCM is a first attempt made in 2018 to categorize and formalize and establish common rules that create the process. We will improve it. I do not dispute that it is ecotourism, nature tourism, sports tourism and agritourism that will hold the tourist offer. Maritime tourism is beautiful, promotion, but lasts only three months. The rest we must continue to develop. The changes will be made in coordination and in consultation with you ", said Mirela Kumbaro.
