San Francisco court releases video of attack on Paul Pelosi

San Francisco Superior Court on Friday released the video recorded by police during last year's attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi.

Harrowing body camera footage of one of the officers who arrived at Pelosi's home on Oct. 28, 2022, when he was attacked, shows the chaos of the moment David DePape attacked the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In the video, both Pelosi and DePape are initially holding a hammer while the aggressor holds Pelosi's arm with his other hand when the officers opened the door.

"Put the hammer away," the officer says.

But the attacker takes the hammer from Pelosi's hand, lunges at him and hits him on the head. The officers then neutralize the aggressor.

This footage and several others from the security cameras were used as evidence in court, despite the objections of the accused's lawyer, who argued that this would irreparably damage his right to a fair trial.

Speaking briefly to reporters after the video was released, Nancy Pelosi said she would not watch the footage of the attack while adding that her husband, Paul Pelosi, is already recovering.
