Ronnie Spector, the powerful vocalist of the '60s, has died at the age of 78, after a battle with cancer.

The news of the death was given by her family through a statement.

"Our dear angel, Ronnie, left this world peacefully," her family wrote in a statement. "She was with her family and in the arms of her husband, Jonathan."

Spector, born in 1943, was known for Ronettes's hit songs, including "Be My Baby", "Baby, I Love You" and "Walking in the Rain".

In 1968 at the age of 25, after Ronettes split, she married Phil Spector, the infamous Wall of Sound producer after the band's hits.

"As I said many times while he was alive, he was a great producer, but a bad husband. Unfortunately, Phil was unable to live and work outside the recording studio. Darkness entered, many lives were damaged. I still smile every time I listen to the music we did together, and I always will. "Music will be forever," she wrote.

The couple had three adopted children - Donté Phillip and twins Louis and Gary. In 2009, Phil was convicted of the murder of actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. He died in prison in 2021.

In 1982, she married her manager Jonathan Greenfield and they had two sons, Austin Dre and Jason Charles.
