Greek composer and politician Mikis Theodorakis dies

Greek composer and politician Mikis Theodorakis passed away at the age of 96.

The songs composed by him have been of various genres from opera, to light music, chamber, ballet, church or even theater. Mikis Theodorakis is the composer of 1000 songs sung by the Beatles, Edith Piaff, Milva, Marinela, Faranduri, Mercury etc; of operas and symphonies, but above all the composer of "Zorbas". The three-time Oscar-winning film "Alexis Zorba" made the film's music composer, Mikis Theodorakis, famous in 1964 worldwide.

In 2017, a concert was held in Albania with his best songs.

He was a member of the KKE from 1981 to 1990. Theodorakis was a government minister under Kostandin Mitsotakis, and he fought against drugs, terrorism. He also focused on culture, education and building better relations between Greece and Turkey.
