The date of the opening of negotiations with the EU on the first issues is revealed
Albania is expected to open membership negotiations with the European Union for the first group of chapters on fundamental rights in mid-October, exactly on October 15, according to Birn.
This time it will be decided whether Albania will go alone on this path if the EU decides to split the process for North Macedonia, which is being blocked by the Bulgarian veto.
"In accordance with the procedures and deadlines of the European Union, the document (after review by the Commission and approval by the Council of Ministers) is expected to be sent to the European Union within a very short time to pave the way for the procedure (with the member countries) for opening negotiations for Group I of the "Basic" chapters and the organization of the Second Intergovernmental Conference, at the earliest opportunity (preliminarily indicated around mid-October 2024)", the government's letter to the Assembly reads.
