Vjosa is declared a National Park
Vjosa has been declared a National Park. The Ministry of Tourism and the American Organization 'Patagonia' have signed the memorandum where they promise to work together to increase the protection of the Vjosa River.
In his speech during the ceremony, the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama said:
"The Albanian Vjosa is the relentless force of nature, the only survivor of the wild rivers of our continent, the last river vein where there is no trace of contamination of industrial development that has turned the rivers of Europe into temperate savages for the circus of energy production. The Vjosa will remain the only water wildlife that will continue to witness, just as it was on the day of its creation, the spectacle of European river beds. Under the protective mantle of the National Park, Vjosa will be there untouched, for Albania, for Europe, for the planet we want for our children's children. economic activity that may affect the river body and its tributaries. "By declaring Vjosa a National Park, we will have economic benefits," Rama said.
