Work continues to extinguish the fire in Porto Palermo, Ministry: Difficult terrain
Another fire, this time in Porto Palermo, has damaged the area's forests. While the arsonists seem to be doing justice this summer, the battle with the flames continues to be difficult for the defense uniforms.
According to the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, the fire in Porto Palermo is already under control, but it required the commitment of at least 40 troops and a helicopter to put it out.
"40 operatives of the third Infantry Battalion from the Ground Force are engaged today in extinguishing the massive fire in Porto Palermo. Yesterday evening, the Cougar helicopter was also intervened, which returned to the area this morning. The work is difficult because of the terrain, where the fire has spread," says Peleshi.
According to official data, only during the first two weeks of August, 95 fires were reported, while another 212 were recorded in June and July.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has attracted the attention of prosecutors several times this summer, especially in the districts, who, according to him, let the perpetrators of the fires go free even when they are caught by the Police.
