Another attack in Germany/ the 26-year-old threatens passers-by with a knife
Another terrorist attack has shocked Germany.
A man who stabbed passers-by in Mers was shot dead by police on Tuesday, days after a deadly stabbing in the town of Solingen.
The police were informed that a person had attacked and threatened passers-by with a knife in the city, where they were immediately put in motion. The officers have identified the suspect, a 26-year-old German citizen. The police immediately shot him, leaving the 26-year-old dead on the spot.
No one else was hurt. The incident comes as Germany is on high alert after three people were killed and eight others wounded in a knife attack on Friday at an outdoor festival in Solingen, about 45 kilometers from Mers.
The 26-year-old Syros, who is suspected of being linked to the jihadist organization Islamic State (IS), was characterized as a terrorist by German authorities.
