Elevator technician in Astir: I fixed it three days before the accident, it's not my fault
Home arrest is the measure that the Court of Tirana has decided for the elevator technician who suffered a technical defect, at the Fratari palaces in Astir. It is learned that the technician Dëfrim Shabani told the court that he fixed the elevator three days before the accident and that the fault of the defect, when 4 people were inside was not his.
The prosecution has requested 1 month deadline to discover the causes of the accident and criminal liability. As well as one month in prison for the elevator technician.
However, the request to leave the technician in prison was rejected by the court. From ISHMT it is said that the elevator was not tested and that the registration was not done by the company.
On September 12, two women were injured after the elevator fell, fortunately being blocked one floor below. According to police, the elevator fell a few minutes after midnight. The two women were taken to hospital, where one of them, who is said to be pregnant, is being treated at the Trauma Hospital, while the other has returned home.
The elevator cable was disconnected and after the event, the maintenance and inspection technician of the palace elevators ended up in handcuffs. Meanwhile, the brother of the technician Dritan Shabani, who is the administrator of the maintenance company, was placed in the proceeding at large.
