Today, the Minister of Interior, Sander Lleshaj, has requested in the Security Commission an increase in salary or financial treatment for state police officers. He said that like doctors, police officers have faced the pandemic from day one and in direct contact with citizens.

Here is what Interior Minister Sander Lleshaj said:

"The pandemic has been faced by two types of t-shirts, white t-shirts and blue t-shirts. The State Police has been standing from the first day, out on the streets, at the border crossing points, facing the pandemic. "If there was room, there would have to be an increase or financial treatment for this category as much as possible."

But for the money of fines collected from citizens how are they spent? Minister Lleshaj said that they will be used for road safety.

A portion of the proceeds from the fines will be used to improve road safety. We have great needs for the scientific laboratory of the State Police because from there are generated scientific evidence for all criminal proceedings.

We are working with partners and donors. Funding will need to be combined. There is an investment for the Central State Police campus. The State Police needs a modern communication system.

The Ministry of Interior is working to increase interaction with ministries. Civil emergency is one of them.

We have a responsibility to enforce this legal obligation.

We will take care to stick to the implementation of this legal obligation as the implementation of some other parameters will be required.

The lack of a standard system has led to inconsistent developments. It will be part of the priorities of the prefects for 2021.
