Albania is elected a member of the UN Security Council
A historic event has happened today for our country as the General Assembly of the United Nations has selected Albania to be part of the Security Council of this body.
Albania has been supported by 175 countries to be part of the UN Security Council for 2022-2023.
Recall that the Security Council consists of 15 members, 5 of whom are permanent and veto-wielding (US, UK, France, Russia and China) while the other 10 rotate and take office 2- year old. The Security Council is one of the most important international bodies for the purpose of achieving peace in the world and the diplomatic settlement of disputes between states in order to avoid armed conflict.
