Normality is restored in Kakavija, counters are added at the Greek border
The Greek side has decided to add counters at the border point of Kakavija after the long queues of vehicles created since the early hours of this morning.
The Greek customs is already working with an accelerated procedure for the vehicles that enter the Albanian land.
This came after a two-party meeting by the leaders of the border police of the two states that took place this morning.
Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reacted to the situation, which clarifies:
After the information about the increased queues of vehicles in the crossing from Greece to Albania, at the customs point of Kakavija, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announces that it is in constant contact through the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Athens and the Embassy of Greece in Tirana with the Greek authorities for the fastest solution to the situation.
After the Albanian side's request to the Greek Ministry of the Interior, the Greek part started the accelerated passage procedure, a technical procedure that has led to the facilitation of the movement. Meanwhile, the Greek authorities have undertaken to increase the number of counters. The General Director of Police for the district for the Greek side has also arrived at the customs point.
Currently, the situation is moving towards normalization.
