Rama dismisses Arben Ahmetaj, Belinda Balluku as deputy prime minister and a new name for chief negotiator
Three proposals have arrived to President Bajram Begaj this morning from Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Arben Ahmetaj has been dismissed from his position as Minister of State and Reconstruction as well as Deputy Prime Minister.
Majlinda Dhuka is appointed Minister of State and Chief Negotiator.
Majlinda Dhuka is an old and close associate of Prime Minister Rama since the time of the Municipality. She has held various posts and been part of the close staff since 2013 onwards. Most recently, she was the director of the strategic department at the Prime Minister.
Rama commented on her appointment as follows: "Now that the priority of Reconstruction gives way to the priority of Negotiations with the EU, the profile of the Minister of State changes. Majlinda Dhuka, a high technical profile instead of the high diplomatic profile of Ambassador Mazi, becomes Chief Negotiator & State Minister next to the Prime Minister".
Belinda Balluku took the place of deputy prime minister. A close collaborator of Rama, since January 2019 she also holds the position of Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.
