Tirana Prosecutor withdraws from running in SPAK
Elisabeta Imeraj, appointed head of the Tirana prosecutor's office, has resigned from the candidacy for the Special Anti-Corruption Structure.
According to media sources, Imaraj has chosen to remain in charge of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office. She sent her resignation as SPAK prosecutor to the High Prosecution Council the day before via an email. In case she was appointed prosecutor in the SPAK, she would have to leave the management of the Tirana prosecutor's office.
She was also attacked by the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, who said on the show that Elisabeta Imeraj is an icon of crime and corruption.
In response to the statements of the DP leader who referred to her confirmation in office by Vettingu and according to him a complaint from the IOM to review the decision, the head of the Tirana prosecutor's office publicly responded to Basha.
Through a message sent to the phone of the journalist Sokol Balla, where Basha was in the interview, Imeraj warned that this was a personal attack on her, a blackmail and that he would address the court for pressure.
