Problems with media freedom? Rama: If there is a place where you can write whatever you want, without getting a thorn in your side, that place is Albania
At the press conference, Prime Minister Rama commented on one of the points of progress of the European Commission report on the lack of media freedom. The Prime Minister was asked by journalists present at the conference about this issue and the anti-defamation law that is on the table.
Rama said: “I do not agree with what the report says. If there is a country where you can speak and write whatever you want, without a thorn in your side, that place is Albania.
In the 2021 report I have no finger. If I have answered you before, I did not do it to put you in trouble, but because that is how it came to me. I answered as I thought. I did it as an individual coming from where you come from, to respond as if it were you, but in the end we are not the same. "After all, we are not the same and it is up to me to grit my teeth."
If you tell me that we have problems with independence on Albanian public television, I do not know when it has ever been cheaper.
Freedom of defamation is at the highest level. I do not know if there is a place in the world, because I do not read them all, but I do not believe it. Is this media freedom? I do not believe.
