In the ceremony attended by the chairman of the board of AADF Michael D. Granoff, the Mayor of Pogradec Ilir Xhakolli, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party Niko Peleshi and representatives of AADF and local institutions, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro said:

"I want to thank the people of Pogradec because we are really in a protected natural area, but in small Albania the protected areas, whether natural park, national park, or protected landscape, have coexisted and are like that thanks to the people who have lived and live and work in these natural areas. People here are part of the ecosystem. Albania is too small to have completely wild spaces without any intervention by people, but through centuries, people through tradition, customs, agricultural or urban crafts have made us an entity of such protected areas as Tushemishti, Driloni", said minister Kumbaro.

"I am very glad that such projects, beyond difficulties and prejudices, are projects that strengthen the connection between man and nature because they are part of a new mentality that educates generations with nature. Such projects have a very great educational value because by bringing visitors not in a disorganized way, inviting investors and residents to become part of it, in an organized way, with rules that respect the environment in the first place, we continue it a tradition left to us naturally by the ancestors to preserve the natural park, but also to benefit from the benefits, even spiritual, that it brings to the local economy, but also to the visitors", Minister Kumbaro continued.

At the end of her speech, the minister said that from January to September, 4.5 million visitors have visited our protected areas, surpassing the total of the previous year, indicating a growing interest in nature tourism.
