Panic at Hamburg airport, armed father takes 4-year-old girl hostage, flights suspended
Hamburg International Airport suspended all operations Saturday evening after a gunman forced his way onto the runway, alerting authorities and causing panic among passengers.
The perpetrator locked himself inside the car parked in front of the general aviation terminal, taking his daughter hostage on board and continues to stay there.
The car stopped on the runway, next to a Turkish Airlines passenger plane which was evacuated. The man also threw two Molotov cocktails, which fortunately did not cause any damage.
The aggressor's wife had previously contacted the police to report a child abduction. The airport was evacuated for safety. The cause of the incident is thought to be a child custody dispute.
