Oil in Shpirag, Rama: Direct impact on pensions, education and health system
Prime Minister Edi Rama in a media conference says that if the oil found in Shpirag is successful, it will be a great support for the citizens of Albania. He says that the oil reserve will have an impact on pensions, the education system, health, and children's well-being. Since the taxes will be administered by a sovereign fund.
"The word oil in the minds of Albanian citizens has become synonymous with the word theft. The truth is that it is not that we have so far had any extraordinary wealth as a speaking country. Resources have been modestly misused. The concessions made in the past have been scandalous, the surrender of sovereignty and the surrender of the right of the people to take their share in this wealth, to all kinds of concessionaires. This wealth has also been misused.
I want to say that we have fought this legacy with all the possibilities, being faced with armored contractual situations, but for these researches in this territory of the field of our resources, we have made a complete change of the state's approach to these contracts and we have established contractual relations of an international level. So everyone should be convinced today that this great wealth is also his and this great wealth will be a support for everyone. I don't mean that he will get a bucket of oil, or money in his hand, but the economic and financial benefit from this wealth will impact pensions, the arrest system, health, and the well-being of our children. They will be the biggest beneficiaries that we will properly build a serious sovereign fund for the protection, guarantee and strengthening of sovereignty", said Rama.
