Meta: I do not want to be a party to the conflict in the DP. I have seen violence from both sides
In the first conference this year, President Ilir Meta was asked by the media about the situation in the Democratic Party, the January 8 protest and the postponement of the June 30 elections.
"I do not want to get into unnecessary controversy. I am convinced that I did a patriotic act above all. That I canceled the June 30, 2019 elections and that I avoided a long-programmed confrontation between Democrats and the opposition with the Socialists. Giving not only a comprehensive opportunity which was denied by the leaders. You see what happened between the Democrats, even though there were non-Democrats there.
We do not want to be a party to the conflict in the DP. But as president I am worried about what is happening in the DP. The use of force, both against doors and windows and even worse of protesters and citizens is punishable. "Violence has been from both sides," said Meta.
