The "Me and You for the Environment" campaign initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the British Embassy to support environmental protection and the legal ban on disposable plastic bags in Albania gathered Minister Mirela Kumbaro, Ambassador Alastair King-Smith, the President of the municipality of Durrës Emiriana Sako and residents of the coastal city.
In her speech, Minister Kumbaro said that at this stage, from July 1, information is no longer enough, but the application of fines will begin in cases of production, import and trade of disposable plastic bags.
"We called this campaign 'Me and you for the environment!' What are you going to do? ” What you can do is get a bag from now on so that you do not have to buy a plastic bag, despite the fact that the category of bags in circulation are versatile and will be purchased as a commodity. During the meeting a mural of the artist Denis Golgota was presented, which will stand on 'Dyrrah Boulevard' and symbolically, citizens are invited to write their personal commitments in environmental protection.
The British Ambassador in Tirana, Alastair King-Smith said that the environment is a very important issue for Albanians and the embassy campaign aims to make their voices heard.
