This is the Albanian woman who helped the Afghans and received a certificate of appreciation from America
Last year, Albania was the first country to open its doors and receive Afghan refugees after the Taliban took over Kabul. Spirit of America was the first organization on the ground to respond to Michigan State Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin's request. Elissa called US Ambassador Yuri Kim and asked for help for the Afghan refugees. During this process, the organization sent a group of its employees to welcome them to Albania. The organization's mission is to work closely with diplomatic corps around the world and assist in conflict zones.
The group of Afghans, which was supported by Spirit of America, was composed of deputy ministers, former students of the fullbright program, employees of the World Bank, etc.
During their stay in Albania, they were supported with all the things they needed.
Matilda was the Albanian who managed the group and stayed close to them throughout the 7 months until they all moved to the United States of America.
Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin has decided to read her certificate of appreciation in the American Congress as a sign of gratitude.
Her name is on the Congressional List for Significant Work with Refugees.
