The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, has stated that this year's summer season was a very successful tourist season and the figures prove this.
"Until the end of August, we can consider a successful northern season. If August ended with 8.5 million visitors, expressed as a percentage compared to the same period last year, we have about 20 percent more foreign visitors. So we emphasize foreign visitors because it is difficult at the moment to calculate domestic tourism, but which is another flow, not only of residents who live and are residents in Albania, but also of Albanians who have residence and work in other countries. when they entered our territory, they entered with an Albanian passport. We cannot count them in this figure. The criterion we have chosen is that we count visitors who enter the TIMS system at all border points with a foreign passport as foreign tourists," Kumbaro told News 24.
"The TIMS system is the most infallible way of calculation, because everything is electronic and easily defined. Yes, this system helps us determine the origin, the age, even if he has come several times or is coming for the first time.
