Infantino: Today I feel like an immigrant worker! Europe hypocrisy with Qatar
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has accused the West of "hypocrisy" in reporting on human rights in Qatar ahead of the World Cup.
In an extraordinary monologue at a press conference in Doha, Infantino spoke for nearly an hour and made an impassioned defense of Qatar and the tournament.
Infantino, who was born in Switzerland, said European nations should apologize for the acts committed in their history, instead of focusing on the migrant worker issues in Qatar.
"Today I feel like Qatar! Today I feel Arab. Today I feel African! I feel gay today! Today I feel incompetent! Today I feel like an immigrant worker!"- were some of his words.
"If Europe is really interested in the fate of these people, they can create the legal paths, - as Qatar did, - so that these workers can come to Europe to work. Give them a future, some hope,” he continued.
