Empowering Youth through Innovation: Opening the EduLab Podcast Center in Tirana

On International Education Day, the EduLab Podcast Center was launched at the Ministry of Education and Sports, with the support of the British Council and the “Alternative Pathways” program. This new innovative center, created within the Ministry’s premises, is dedicated to youth empowerment, education and technology.

As part of this event, the Director of the British Council, Ms. Majlinda Mazelliu, together with the Minister of Education, Ms. Ogerta Mnastirliu and other partners, participated in a live podcast with talented students from multimedia clubs and coding clubs established in 8 municipalities in Northern Albania.

The Minister of Education and Sports praised the collaboration with the British Council for the establishment of the podcast center at the Ministry of Education, calling on young people to engage in this space to exchange ideas on challenges related to education and their experiences.

Ms. Majlinda Mazelliu, Director of the British Council, said that the creation of the podcast center is an example of the commitment to empowering young people through education and technological training. The "Alternative Pathways" program, in addition to coding clubs with micro:bit devices, has also enabled the establishment of multimedia laboratories in 8 municipalities in Northern Albania, where teachers and young people have been trained to produce productions in many fields of mass media such as television journalism, post-production, documentaries, photography, etc.

Era, 14 years old, from the "Avni Rustemi" school in Kukës, during the interview on the podcast of the Edu-Lab center, in the dedicated space at the Ministry of Education, shared her experience in the project for the return to function of the Kukes airport:

"Through micro:bit, we express our creativity and desires. One of our projects is the return to function of the Kukes airport, an important project for the community. Micro:bit is not just a small circuit, but a device that helps creative projects, such as the creation of an airplane that takes off when you clap your hands."

Diana, a student from the Avni Rustemi Kukës school, said that as part of the multimedia clubs she had completed the editing training, realizing together with the team of students trained in the roles of journalist, screenwriter and cameraman, a podcast and a documentary. She hopes that their work will be appreciated by everyone, but most importantly, she is also thinking about the profession of the future.

Edi, an 8th grade student at Mat, added: "Engaging in multimedia clubs is a beautiful experience and an opportunity to showcase our skills and creativity. Technology is essential and the future of every young person should be connected to this field."

Young people from schools in the north of the country and high schools in Tirana such as "Qemal Stafa" and "Petro Nini Luarasi", came up with the idea of ​​exchanging their experiences, through joint visits and podcasts, which they can carry out in their schools as well as in the EduLab podcast Center, recently established at the Ministry of Education with the support of the British Council.
