The first flight from Vlora airport will start in March 2025
Operations from Vlora airport are expected to start from March-April 2025. The news was given today by Deputy Minister Belinda Balluku during the inspection of the airport together with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"In the first year, 330,000 passengers are expected, but it is certain that in the first year we will have more than 1 million passengers, from March 2025 only at Vlora airport. The forecasts are optimistic. The airport will have innovation, it will be covered with solar panels, measures have been taken to prevent problems during landing and takeoff of planes with reflections. 5.2 megawatts of renewable energy will be produced for the needs of the airport. We are located on a surface 2 meters below sea level. Through an engineering work, a solution has been given for everything, the runway is 2.6 meters high from the ground level and the airport 4 meters, minus 2 plus 2 we are located. The track still continues with 3.2 km long filling, 60 meters wide, the 6 km perimeter road is ready for asphalting. All of this will be completed during the summer of 2024. And we will start operations in March, April 2025. At the beginning of 2024, the implementation of the water supply network will begin. CAA is following all the steps and from January 2024, in cooperation with the Munich airport, certification will begin," said Balluku.
