The Albania-Italy agreement on illegal immigration is signed, the receiving port of Shengjin

Prime Minister Edi Rama is on an official visit to Italy, where he met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During a press conference, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that a cooperation agreement on illegal immigration has been signed. Meloni said that the Port of Shengjin will be a reception point for illegal immigrants seeking to enter Italy.
"Albania will give Italy support by allowing it to use some areas, while Italy will carry out the selection process. Refugees seeking asylum will remain in these territories among those who have the right and will not receive asylum".
According to Meloni, up to 36,000 people can be temporarily accommodated in Albania, pending the verification of their request for asylum.
"Albania is not an EU country, but it is a European state. We are in Europe, we are a European country and we lack the U in front, but this does not prevent us from seeing the world as a European. We would not make this agreement with any other EU country, because there is a big difference between what connects Albania with Italy and Italians with Albanians. As I have said on other occasions, if Italy calls, Albania answers," said Rama
