Let's ASSEMBLY! Journalists warn of protest
Journalists say they will protest after the adoption of a new regulation in the Assembly, which does not allow journalists to follow the activities of the Presidency of the Assembly closely.
Many of them have posted this reaction on social networks:
The decision of the Bureau of the Assembly to exclude accredited journalists from the access of parliamentary committees is a clear violation of our work and the freedom of the media! Through a spontaneous, awareness-raising organization on Wednesday, 09/06/2021, all journalists accredited to the Albanian Parliament are invited to participate in a protest against this decision-making at 09:30 before the plenary session!
PS. The television editorial office is asked to provide access to this protest! This is a battle for free speech and independent reporting! "
According to the new regulation, journalists will follow the activities in an office with computers that are broadcast in real time, where the directing and recording is done by the Assembly.
President Ilir Meta also reacted to this decision, calling it unacceptable and anti-democratic.
